Energy Efficient Homes| Home for sale in rockwood

You just don’t have to be the saviour of the world or reducing the Green House Effect, if you’re trying to be energy efficient. It also takes off a lot of load from your wallet. It could be something as small as shutting the lights when you leave a room or something huge as installing solar panels. Some of these are one time things and others are small things you do every day. It’s ok to not imply ALL of these; even a few tweaks here and there are enough!
#1 Insulation :- Insulating your walls and ceiling prevents the warm air from escaping and keeps the cold outside. This reduces your heating cost. And in summers, keeps the house cool.
#2 Windows :- Aluminium panes facilitates heat exchange. Vinyl is a better option. Multiple panes act as insulators. Tinting windows goes a long way in keeping the heat locked. Blinds help sunlight reach the interiors and you can save energy and electricity consumption.
#3 Appliances :- New appliances are more energy efficient and cost lesser electricity units. Water fixtures like showers and flush; can be toned down to lower pressure; reducing your water bill.
#4 Furnace :- Change the filters regularly, opt for programmable thermostat and shut the vents of lesser used rooms; like the guest rooms.
#5 Fluorescent Lighting Fixtures :- These are a little more expensive than regular bulbs, initially; but the bills are lower.
#6 Solar Panels:- Installing these is a one-time investment but you are producing your own energy.
#7 Trees :- Plant trees on the side of the house that receives more sun. The tree will help you keep the surroundings cool and during winters, bare tree will allow the sun to come in.
#8 Tax Incentives :- The government has made reforms and in the wake of the hour gives monetary funds; incase you want to install eco-friendly components. Make sure you enjoy that benefit.
#9 Rainwater :- You could build a DIY water collector and use it for irrigating your garden. Sounds easy? It is. Give it a try and let us know. How To Choose The Right Home Builder | Cuatom Home Builder

Crescent homes

After years of yearning, the time is here to build your own dream home. But before you start putting up family photos, you need the right home builder, for you. ‘For you’ being the key word here. There are hundreds of custom home builders, for you to take your pick, but then you need the one, who understands your needs, the best.
The most important thing you need to check while doing your reference checks are; is the builder licensed and certified and do they deliver on time. Sticking to the code, is extremely vital; whether you’re a serial killer or a new home builder. More often than never, we drive across houses which are unfinished, well, they didn’t do their homework properly.
Secondly, it is also important to check the kind of houses your favorite builder builds and has built in the past. Ask them for addresses of the houses, they have built; visit them and ask the owner right questions. See if they were satisfied with the service. Did they get to move in on time? Was the whole process hassle free? Et all. Red flag, if he doesn’t want to share this information with you.
Money, the answer for almost all your problems. A good custom home builder will not try to rip you off. Instead, he will try to give you everything you need in your budget. It is an expensive investment, but then you have to live with it, literally.
There are a whole lot of things, you need to go with before deciding who'll be right for your future home. But licensing, past work and money; are the three most crucial ones. Keep these in mind and have a good time.

Personal Retreat: Bathroom Makeover-Crescent Homes

These days bathrooms are getting more upscale than ever. This is due to the busy schedule we all have. Once you start living in the house, you realize that the bathroom is where you can relax, think and unwind after a long day at work. So, it’s more than important to put in some extra thinking in this area.
A few trends that I see on an increase are tubeless stall showers, walk-in or doorless showers, water saving washroom techniques, radiant heated floors and accessibility.
To start with remodeling, always take a little advice from the professionals, as you don’t want to mess it up, if it’s your first time.
Floor: Porcelain floor goes a long way if you want a low maintenance floor. For non-slippery go for a matte finish or smaller tiles with line grips.
Check with the local codes for dimensions and clearance, if you’re going to get a customized home.
Wiring: While you’re at it, change the wiring so that you don’t have to do it in the next few years.
Space: With the right light and proper colors you can get the illusion of a spacious bathroom. And you can always find little hacks to fit in all your things.
Avoid accessories: Try to make niches in the bathroom, so that it’s not cluttered and you have clean empty spaces.
Sink: There are multiple options here. Choose the one that suits your needs. If it’s a small space, go for pedestal or else for a more elegant looking vessel sink.
Bathtub: One rule; sit in it before buying it.
Mirror: Get large mirrors to make the place look much bigger and to admire yourself.
Counter Tops: There are again more than one options here. Go for a natural stone, as they are scratch resistant. Resin based; not as pretty as the natural stone but looks neat. Wood, very Asian and old fashioned; has its own charm. The list can go and on. Do your research!
Well, I think this is enough to get you started.
Good luck.

Home Permits In Guelph Ontario

The past year saw a lack of enthusiasm in people buying new houses and even existing ones. But this year we hope it will be different and better for custom home builders.
As a home owner, you will realize very soon that you have outgrown your home or renovation is in order. It could be anything; adding a basement, new room, different interiors et all. But you just can’t pick up your hammer and get to work. It is very crucial to keep in mind the building permits. There are a few rules and regulations you need to follow in case you’re getting a custom home built or fixing up an old place for rental business.
Receiving help from the Building Services staff is one of the biggest benefit. You might require professional help to draw the scaled drawing of the project. Even if you don’t plan to get custom home builders, you will get assistance in meeting the minimum requirements set by Ontario Building Code.
Even if you do get a custom home builder, as a home owner, it is your responsibility to obtain the work permit. Starting without one is illegal and in case of any mishap, don’t expect any help from the Government. Regular inspections are extremely important, so that at a later stage your work doesn’t go to the dogs.
For plumbing, heating or electrical renovations a legal permit is required. So much so, you need a permit to re-insulate, but not one if you want to remove asbestos. These things are being taken seriously by the authorities so that someone is answerable if there is an accident or your home has issues in the future. They ensure your house is safe as far as fire and other structural security is concerned.
Always look for a law abiding Custom Home Builder. It will take your home a long long way.

Happy homing.

DIY Coffee Station- Crescent Homes

In the midst of my morning frenzy, I quickly glance at my watch and do a mental calculation whether or not I have the time to grab a take away from the local coffee shop. It’s ok to be two minutes late, but can you imagine, NO MORNING COFFEE. I know I am not the only one. But this gets really tiresome after a point. Wouldn’t it be nice to have your own coffee station? I thought. And I worked on it.
It’s easier than it sounds. A couple of hours over the weekend and I found my own coffee get away.
Step 1:
Find a corner in your kitchen or living room, where you want to build your private café.
Invest in a good looking coffee machine, if you don’t have one already. Mine was lying somewhere in the kitchen cupboards, eating dust. A little wiffwaff with the cleaning cloth, mind it new and shiny, again.
Step 3:
Now that you’re making your own coffee station, be ready for a few friends who’ll love to try it out too. Get a coffee plunger. People have their own preferences.
Step 4:
Get a nice looking set of handy napkins. You might want to set the mood right with either dinner napkins or cocktail serviettes.
Step 5:
Sugar & Creamer set. If you want a vintage look, go for porcelain or make it trendy by getting silver ones. There are a ton of them available.
Step 6:
Small coffee spoons for adding extra sugar or stirring. I personally opted for small dessert spoons and have them neatly placed in an empty cup.
Step 7:
If you’re not in college, get a proper set of coffee mugs. Being a fan of European things, I got a smaller white and blue set, for when I have company.
Step 8:
Put all the things together on a neat tray and you’re done.

Hope I could help you. Be back with something new after my cup of home brewed coffee.

Spring Cleaning Check List

Spring is here. Time to crawl out of bed and open the windows. But while you were hibernating,
things around your house also decided to gather dust. So take out your cleaning kit and gloves to start. But start from where? Don’t worry, I have out this universal list to help you a bit, getting done.

·         Dress appropriately. Lose the denims, get loose pajamas and an apron maybe. Comfortable footwear will not let you get sore feet after a long day of trying to reach tall tops.

·         Music. There’s a list for EVERYTHING on 8tracks or Spotify. Get music to pump you up. It could be a boring task, if you’re not OCD. But don’t let that get to you.

·         Cleaning Kit. Brushes, sponges, towels, sprays get them all out!

·         Treat yourself. Every now and then treat yourself. Keep them handy, so that ten minute break is ten minutes long. Could be cookies or chocolates to keep you happy.

·         Big Job First. Move the furniture aside. Open the windows. Big things, do them. It makes it seem a lot of work has been done. Trick your brain.

·         Dusting. Dust the cushions, furniture before you get the vacuum cleaner out. If sunny, leave them in the backyard for a while.

·         Kitchens and Bathrooms. Throw towels in the laundry. Move the tiny bottles aside. Clean surfaces and then end with the mirrors/glasses. Shiny surfaces are shiny again and you can see yourself smiling.

·         De-clutter. Open old drawers and kitchen cupboards. Throw out used/old things, which you haven’t used last season. You will not use them. You don’t need them. Donate.

·          Floors. You will notice the difference once you clean the floor. Not too obvious, but makes a lot of difference when clean, just like windows.

·         Reward. You have accomplished a mammoth task and you deserve a hot shower.

Lie down on the clean couch and watch your favourite show., you deserve it.
I hope I could help.
Have a good day.
